Tuck in vs tuck end: which style do you need?
“Tuck in” and “tuck end” describe where the box opens. We make both styles on this page, in cardstock, kraft or corrugated board, so tell us in the quote form which one you want — or describe your product and our design team will suggest the better fit.
| Tuck end box | Tuck in (tuck top) box | |
|---|---|---|
| Opens at | The narrow ends — top and bottom flaps tuck into the box | The whole top face — a full-width lid folds over and its flap tucks in at the front |
| Common versions | Straight tuck end (both flaps on the same side), reverse tuck end (flaps on opposite sides) and tuck end with auto bottom for heavier items | Tuck top carton, tuck top with auto bottom, and the roll end tuck top style used for mailer boxes |
| Best for | Tall or slim products: cosmetics, supplements, candles, bottles, small electronics | Wider or flatter products and sets you lift out from the top: gift sets, stationery, apparel, subscription items |
| Display | Front panel stays clean for branding; easy to stack on a shelf | Large lid area to print; opens like a gift box |
