Questions buyers ask

Perforation boxes: FAQs

Straight answers on materials, sizing, artwork and timing. Something else? Ask us.

What is a perforated box?

A perforated box has a line of small cuts pressed into the board so a panel tears away cleanly by hand. It is used for tear-off lids, dispensing openings and boxes that turn into a shelf display once the front panel is removed.

Where can the perforation go?

Almost anywhere on a flat panel: across the lid, around a front window to create a display, or as a pull-tab strip. Keep perforations away from folds and glue areas so the box stays strong. Our design team places the line on the dieline at no charge, and you approve a free digital proof — a flat mock-up and a 3D view — before anything is printed.

Will the perforation weaken the box in transit?

A perforation is designed to be easy to tear on purpose, so it is usually placed on a panel that is not carrying load. If the box travels through the post, shipping boxes or an outer carton protect it until it reaches the shelf.

Which products suit perforated packaging?

Tissues, wipes and other dispensed products (dispenser boxes), retail-ready trays and display boxes, and food boxes with tear-open lids.

Is there a minimum order for perforated boxes?

There is no minimum order quantity, and there is no separate charge for dies and printing plates. Perforation is quoted as part of the die-cut, so it is listed on your quote with the rest of the box.

How long do custom perforated boxes take?

Production takes 7–14 working days once your artwork is accepted, the proof is approved and payment is confirmed. Shipping then typically takes about 6–8 days with DHL or 8–10 days with UPS (carrier estimates, not guaranteed), and it is free on every order to the US, UK and Canada (one delivery address per order). Need it sooner? Ask for rush production, which shortens production by a few days.
